changing xterm invocation command

Is it possible to change the command line arguments used to run xterm? I would like to change the foreground and background colors. (The defaults on my laptop produce very light (nearly illegible) foreground color on white background.)
I'd like something like: "xterm -fg black bg LightYello -title ..."
I'd like something like: "xterm -fg black bg LightYello -title ..."
